Text Santa


Simon has been shooting the appeal films for ITV’s Text Santa.  Text Santa is a new show that aims to raise awareness and money for those most vulnerable during the festive period. Simon has shot the appeal films for being Carers UK, Crisis UK, Samaritans and the WRVS using the Sony PMW700 and Canon 5D DSLR. The show will culminate in two big entertainment extravaganzas featuring stars from television, music and showbusiness. The show will TX on ITV1 – the first on December 11th, with the finale taking place live on Christmas Eve.

The Talent Show Story


Simon has been working with Shiver productions and Talkback Thames to produce the definitive history of the talent show.

The series will explore the full history of the talent show – from the array of singers, bands, comedians, dancers and variety acts who have come up through the genre to the evolution of the panel of judges, from the role of the presenters to the job of the British public in often helping to pick Britain’s next big star.

The Talent Show Story was shot on the Sony PMW700 and Canon 5D DSLR. The series is produced by Stuart Ramsay, and is set to air on ITV1 in early 2012.

Blue Peter move to Media City


Simon help Blue Peter’s move to Media City start in spectacular style. Simon camera supervised the opening sequence to the show.

Presenter Barney Harwood arrived at the studios by jetski while his colleague Helen Skelton made even more of an impression by dropping in by a royal navy search and rescue helicopter from RNAS Culdrose.

The Dales

Little England


Simon has been out to the Dordogne region of France filming for a new ITV1 show Little England. The prime-time series will focus on the lives of the British ex-pats living in Eymet in the South of France. The beautifully preserved medieval fortress town in the Dordogne is home to the highest proportion of British residents of anywhere in mainland Europe. Little England  is due to air on ITV1 later in 2011, and will be produced by Simon Paintin.

The British Soap Awards


Simon has provided crews for the British Soap Awards 2011, In total 3 cameramen were booked along with 2 Sound recordists and a camera assistant. The show was shot on the Sony PDW700 XDCam camera. The show is due for transmission mid May on ITV1/HD

Ade In Britain


Simon is spending the next three months with Ade Edmundson making a new documentary series about the food and traditons of Britain. Simon will be filming anything from walking on the sands of Morecambe Bay with 78 year old guide Cedric to driving a steam train. The show is been shot on Simon’s new Sony PDW700 XDCam camera and also 3 Go-pro, Canon 5D and a Canon XF305. The show is due for transmission from November on ITV1/HD

BBC 4 Timeshift


Simon has been in Blackpool filming two BBC4 Time Shift documentaries. The golden age of the fairground and Circuses looks into the past at Britain’s social and cultural history, its narrative-led storytelling offering a richly immersive and varied window onto the subject.  Due for transmission mid 2011 on BBC 4

Got To Dance 2011


Simon has been working on the new series of Sky One dance show Got To Dance, Simon has been filming PSC films about the contestants for the semi final shows and also the grand final. Shooting on the Sony HDW-750 HD cam and also the Canon 5D DSLR.  The show produced by Princess Productions is transmitting from Jan 2011.

Co-op Good with food awards 2010


Simon has just finished project managing, Camera supervising and providing crew and equipment in partnership with A to V Ltd for the Co-operative Retail’s ‘Good With Food’ awards and gala dinner, with over 1000 guests attending at the Manchester Central (formally the G-MEX)

As it was such a large scale event Simon had to provide 10 HD cameras including 6 radio cameras and a 24ft jimmy jib. The images were  live vision mixed and then fed to a circular 360° screen, measuring 10 metres in diameter and 3.5m high. In total Simon had to employ 10 cameramen and 3 assistants to film the event.
